Do you have any creative uses for left over pieces of gift wrap?
Tonight, I finished wrapping the majority my gifts. I have a lot of odd pieces of gift wrap left over. It is not really big enough to wrap another gift, unless it is very small, but too big to throw away...besides I don't want to throw it away because I think that is wasteful considering how much gift wrap can cost. Can you think of any creative uses for it instead of throwing it away? I have pieces of gift wrap from many Christmas pasts because I don't like to throw it away.

- Make papier mache ornaments out of the scraps. Go to a craft store to get information on how to make papier mache' if you don't know how. These can be really pretty and original; you can cut the paper in different shapes, or cut out designs that are on the paper to use how you want. You can then put them on your own tree or give them as gifts. You can also use them to wrap plain white boxes (wrap the top and bottom separately)--sort of a quilt effect--and use the boxes for the ornaments if you give them as gifts. Merry Christmas!
- Next year's Christmas cards (write your own messages) or thank you notes.
- I use my left over pieces to wrap stuff in stockings, or if there's pictures on the wrap like snowmen or snowflakes stuff like that I cut them out and decorate my Christmas cards, envelopes, flip it upside down and use that as the name tag on the gift. There's a lot of things you can do. :)
- You can make tags out of them. Cut out a rectangle, fold it in half and tape it to the package.
- That’s a very thoughtful way of recycling to save the earth. Well, you can turn smaller pieces of gift wrapper into homemade gift tags. You can write your message on the plain sides. If the wrapping paper is too thin or flimsy, just add a vanguard sheet as a base, thus creating your own matching Xmas gift tag! You can also recycle the smaller strips and turn them into napkin holders. Stick it over your plain napkin holder to give it a more festive look, or strengthen it with some twisting wires before inserting the napkins. Last but not least, you can save them for your scrapbooks or even string them together as an indoor decoration. Just remember to keep them away from flames and burning candles!
