What are some physical properties of bubble wrap?

The type of bubble wrap i'm talking about is the original Sealed Air bubble wrap. its made of two layers of polyethylene with a special "Air Seal" between them. Any ideas on special properties (light? flame retardent? insulator?) that either bubble wrap or polyethylene have would really help. Serious answers only please, and only answer if you are sure! 1. It would be an insulator because it creates a generally air filled barrier between two objects. I do not believe it's flame retardant. Polyethylene melts easily. Polypropylene has a higher melting point and is usually used in those disposable food storage containers.
